A registered tax agent and a tax consultant — are they the same thing?

"Tax consultant" is a general term for anyone who advises on tax matters. A registered Tax Agent is different: someone formally registered with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and specifically licensed to represent your company before it — in correspondence, audits, and reconsideration requests.

That difference matters the moment you need actual formal representation — not every consultant can sign or submit on your behalf to the FTA. Working with a firm that has genuinely FTA-registered tax agents ensures any official communication with the Authority happens with the correct legal standing, not just general advice.
