Before I file my corporate tax return on EmaraTax — what do I actually need ready?
Before you open the return form on EmaraTax, you should have on hand: your trade license and registration details (mainland, free zone, or otherwise), complete financial statements for the tax period (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement), whether audited or management-prepared, a general ledger with every transaction categorized by account, bank statements for every account active during the year, and a fixed asset register with its corresponding depreciation schedules. You'll also need revenue and expense records — issued and received invoices, contracts, payroll data, purchase orders — that back up every figure in the return, plus your Corporate Tax Registration Certificate with the Tax Registration Number (TRN) the FTA issued.
If your business is VAT-registered, have your VAT returns and payment history ready alongside it. Where you have related-party or cross-border transactions, transfer pricing documentation will be needed too. Finally, prepare supporting schedules for any adjustments to taxable income — non-deductible expenses, exempt income, and other reconciling items. Above all: keep every one of these records for at least 7 years, even after the return is filed. RASEEKH reviews the file with clients at least two weeks before filing, so a missing document never turns into a problem when an audit comes around.
