What does 'Tax Period' mean?
A Tax Period is the defined stretch of time over which taxable income is calculated and a single return is filed with the Federal Tax Authority. For corporate tax, the tax period is usually 12 months matching the company's financial year — whether that's January to December or another approved 12-month cycle. For VAT, the tax period is typically shorter, monthly or quarterly, depending on the size of the business.
The practical point is that the corporate tax filing deadline is counted from the end of the tax period, not from the start of the calendar year — so a tax period ending December 2025 gives roughly nine months after that to file. Many business owners confuse 'financial year' with 'filing deadline' and end up late. RASEEKH tracks each client's tax period and the deadlines that follow it precisely.
