What's the difference between 'Net Profit' and 'Taxable Income'?

الإجابة

Net profit is the bottom-line figure on the income statement, calculated under accounting standards, and reflects the company's actual financial performance with no tax considerations applied. Taxable income is a different figure: it starts from that same net profit but is then adjusted — adding back expenses the tax law doesn't allow in full (such as part of entertainment costs, or payments to related parties above market value), removing exempt income (such as qualifying dividends), and applying allowed reliefs or carried-forward losses.

The difference matters in practice: a company might show an accounting net profit of AED 500,000, but after the legal adjustments the taxable income figure can end up quite different — higher or lower. Calculating tax directly off the raw financial-statement number, or assuming '9% of profit' is the whole formula, is a common mistake that leads to a mis-estimated tax bill. RASEEKH converts the accounting figures into the correct taxable income before any return is filed.
